O-methoxy phenol, also known as 2-methoxy phenol, o-hydroxyanisole, 2-hydroxyanisole, 1-hydroxy-2-methoxybenzene, commonly known as guaiacol or methylcatechol. At room temperature, it is a colorless or slightly yellow crystal, or a colorless to light yellow transparent oily liquid. Has a fragrant odor. It gradually turns dark when exposed to air or sunlight. The acidic component present in wood distillate oil contains 60% -90% creosote, mainly guaiacol. This product is flammable and poses a risk of combustion when exposed to high heat, open flames, or oxidants. It releases toxic smoke during combustion. Methoxyphenol is a toxic chemical that is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes. Contact with the eyes can cause serious damage, and skin contact can cause a burning sensation, leading to dermatitis and blisters. Oral administration can cause acute gastroenteritis, vomiting, diarrhea, and sometimes bloody. Mainly used as an insecticide, producing catechol, and in fields such as spices and medicine.
